Newcastle International Airport is a modern regional airport serving the North East, & is now ranked number 10 among the UK's major airports. With anewly opened £ 27million extension, the airport is used by a growing number of airlines, flying over 3,000,000 passengers last year. Regular flights go to a number of European hub airports including Amsterdam, Brussels, Heathrow, gatwick & Paris, as well as direct international scheduled services to Belfast, Copenhagen, Dublin, Hamburg & Norway.Newcastle airport, just 10 km outside Newcastle city centre, has a long history, having first opened in 1935. It deals with 3.3 million passengers per annum, with flights to trans-Atlantic destinations available to Toronto and Florida. A wide range of domestic and European connections are also served by airlines operating out of the airport.
