It's a good idea to consider several factors while reserving to help make your trip more enjoyable. Since you may be in your car rental for a large part of your trip, the car you drive as well as your overall rental experience is obviously very important. See our tips list below.

Most major rental car companies offer child safety and infant seats for rent. Please be sure you reserve these ahead of time. They are usually anywhere from £2-£10 per day

GET AN EXTRA KEY!
Many car companies will provide you with an EXTRA KEY if you ask for one. This can come in handy for some of us who are absent minded.

RENTING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY
When renting a car in another country, your personal insurance coverage probably will not extend to a car rental. In this case, your best option is to buy the collision damage waiver from the rental agency which may be expensive but very useful.

Can I let someone else drive the rental car?
In most cases, you will need to list additional drivers on your contract at the time of pick up. Some companies will allow your spouse to drive at no additional cost but check first. If someone else drives the car without the rental car agency's permission your contract maybe voided for protection and even claims against your personal insurance coverage

When you arrive in U.K, buy a callcard at a newsagent. They can be used in the phones that don't take money, and you won't have to figure out the change to make the call. A card can be bought in many different denominations, from 3 to 15 pounds

Be sure you check out our MAP and take a print out if necessary. If you need to ask questions do so before you leave the agency. Take note of the location so you can easily return your car.

Passports

Passports are not required by British citizens born in the United Kingdom and travelling from Britain, identification may be needed. Citizens of European Union states and Switzerland may use a passport or national identity card.

Health Insurance and Medical Treatment

The U.K National Health Plan does not cover United States or Canadian visitors. Ask your insurance agent or broker before you travel if your health plan is valid in U.K.

EU Citizens are entitled to free hospital treatment in a public ward and should obtain a E111 form prior to departure. This should be presented to the doctor or hospital, along with identification, if and when required. If you think you are entitled to cash benefits, you should apply within three days of becoming ill to:
