History buffs will enjoy Consibrough Castle, the backdrop for Sir Walter Scott’s novel Ivanhoe, Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, a perfect time capsule of a Victorian Country House and nearby Cusworth Hall, a Georgian mansion that is home to the Museum of South Yorkshire Life. Doncaster boasts six country parks in addition to numerous nature reserves supporting rare species of flora and fauna and The Trans-Pennine Trail, which stretches from the Irish Sea to the North Sea passes through the Borough.Among the many picturesque villages to be found within the Doncaster area are the old coaching town of Bawtry and its neighbour Austerfield, birthplace of William Bradford one of the founder Pilgrim Fathers.
